Reasonable Adjustments Policy

1. Purpose

The purpose of this Reasonable Adjustments and Special Considerations Policy is to ensure that UK Learning Hub provides a fair and accessible learning and assessment environment for all learners. This policy outlines procedures for implementing reasonable adjustments and special considerations to accommodate learners with disabilities or those facing exceptional circumstances.

 

2. Definitions

2.1. Reasonable Adjustments: Modifications or accommodations made to enable learners with disabilities to access learning materials, participate in assessments, and achieve their full potential.

2.2. Special Considerations: Provision made for learners facing exceptional circumstances, such as illness, bereavement, or other unavoidable disruptions, during assessments.

 

3. Scope

This policy applies to all learners enrolled at UK Learning Hub and covers all aspects of learning, teaching, and assessment.

 

4. Reasonable Adjustments

4.1. Identification of Learners: Learners with disabilities are encouraged to disclose their needs at the beginning of their course or as soon as possible to allow for timely adjustments.

4.2. Assessment of Needs: Individual needs assessments will be conducted to determine the reasonable adjustments required for each learner.

4.3. Types of Reasonable Adjustments:

4.3.1. Additional time for assessments.

4.3.2. Provision of assistive technology.

4.3.3. Alternative assessment formats.

4.3.4. Physical adjustments to learning environments.

4.4. Consultation with Learners: The preferences and requirements of learners will be considered during the implementation of reasonable adjustments.

4.5. Review and Monitoring: The effectiveness of reasonable adjustments will be regularly reviewed, and modifications will be made as needed.

 

5. Special Considerations

5.1. Eligibility Criteria: Learners facing exceptional circumstances must submit relevant evidence to be eligible for special considerations.

5.2. Types of Special Considerations:

5.2.1. Extension of assessment deadlines.

5.2.2. Deferral of assessments.

5.2.3. Alternative assessment arrangements.

5.3. Application Process: Learners must submit a formal application for special considerations, including supporting documentation, within the specified timeframe.

5.4. Decision-Making Process: A designated committee will review applications and make decisions based on the evidence provided.

 

6. Confidentiality and Data Protection

All information related to reasonable adjustments and special considerations will be treated with confidentiality and in accordance with data protection laws.

 

7. Communication

Clear communication channels will be established to inform learners and relevant staff about the procedures for requesting and implementing reasonable adjustments and special considerations.

 

8. Review and Continuous Improvement

This policy will be regularly reviewed to ensure its effectiveness and compliance with relevant legislation. Feedback from learners and staff will be considered to continually improve the procedures.

 

This Reasonable Adjustments and Special Considerations Policy is effective as of 15/12/2023 and is applicable to all staff and learners associated with UK Learning Hub.
